Description :
On Sunday, May 2nd, at 4:30 pm, the St. Stephen`s church choir, lead by director Mark van Schenkhof, will perform Felix Mendelssohn`s oratorio, Elijah. Episodes from the life of Elijah, taken from the books 1 Kings and 2 Kings, tell the dramatic story of the life of the prophet.
Featured soloists will be: Maria Whisenand, soprano, Deborah Berruete-Fuhrman, mezzo soprano, David Reck, tenor, and Daniel Klein, bass.
There is no charge for this concert. Come and enjoy the beauty and power of this magnificent piece of music, then join us for a reception to follow the concert.

Memorial Weekend Fireworks Show

The Town of North Hempstead presents the annual Memorial Weekend Fireworks Show at North Hempstead Beach Park (formerly Bar Beach.) Entertainment starts at 6PM, Fireworks Show begins between 9 - 9:15PM. Rain date is May 30.
Parade starts at 10AM on Port Washington Blvd. and continues down Main Street to the John Philip Sousa Memorial Bandshell in Sunset Park. The Chamber of Commerce will be giving away flags to people along the parade route, before the parade starts.
The Polish American Cultural Assoc. sponsors Friday night dances. Admission is $14 which includes two coupons towards drinks. Call 883-5553 for information.
The Thomas Dodge House, circa 1721, is the oldest house in Port Washington and a living museum administered by the Cow Neck Peninsula Historical Society. It is open for guided tours from 1 to 5pm on the first Sunday of the month.Admission is $2.50. Located at 58 Harbor Road. Call 516-767-3970 for information.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Sands- Willets House, circa 1735, is the headquarters of the Cow Neck Peninsula Historical Society. From May through October, it is open for guided tours of its 10 fully furnished rooms on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month, from 2pm - 4pm. Also included is a tour of the 1600`s Dutch barn.
